1. Objective
This document provides essential information required by authors to submit manuscripts to Particle and Aerosol Research. It is also intended to proceed the publications in journal in systematic and efficient manners.
2. Publication types
The work submitted for publication should not have been published before. The following types of manuscripts are usually considered for peer-reviewed publication in journal£ºresearch paper, review paper, technical note, technical information, special feature, and discussion. Detailed explanations are given below.
- Research paper should include substantial new results and conclusions from scientific investigations on particles and aerosols.
- Review paper summaries the status, trends, and defects of knowledge and outlines the future directions of researches within the scope of the journal.
- Technical note reports originative but fragmentary studies and should be relevant for scientific investigations within the scope of the journal.
- Technical information includes novel aspects of experimental and theoretical methods and techniques which are within the scope of the journal.
- Topics and authors for special feature are usually selected by committee of the journal. Special feature may include an introduction article or an overview auricle or both.
- Through discussion, peer-reviewed commentaries can go on the discussion of the published papers in one year after the publication. Discussion covers opinion, question, and authors¡¯ answer.
3. Submissions
- Manuscripts are frequently received on a website (http://www.kapar.or.ke/paar), and received date is the time when manuscripts are arrived at Korean Association for Particle and Aerosol Research (KAPAR). Accepted date is the time when the evaluation process is completely finished.
- Submitted manuscript should include text, figures, and tables in MS Word format. Manuscript can be submitted via email. Evaluation charges should be paid through credit transfer.
- Authors have to send the final version of manuscript including figures and tables after acceptance notice and should pay publication charges after print of the manuscript.
4. Page limits
Our target length for articles is 8 or fewer pages including tables and figures. Manuscripts should clearly be printed on A4 paper with 10 standard font.
5. Languages and marks
Standard language is Korean, but for the names of authors, places, company, journals etc, English can also be used. In addition, all units used in text should be SI unit.
6. Ethics of Research and Publication
For the policies on the research and publication ethics not stated in this instructions. International standards for editors and authors (http://publicationethics.org/international-standards-editors-and-authors) can be applied.
7. Manuscript forms
7.1 Title page
- List title, author names and affiliations of all authors. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address.
- Indicate corresponding author with asterisk (*) and ensure that telephone number and e-mail address are provided at the left bottom of the page.
7.2 Structure
Divide your article into Abstract, Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussions (Acknowledgement), References, Tables, and Figures.
7.3 Abstract and keywords
A concise and factual abstract is required. An abstract should be presented separately from the article, so it must be able to stand alone.
Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 5 keywords.
7.4 Subdivision
Divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be numbered 1.1 (then 1.1.1, 1.1.2, ...), 1.2, etc.. Any subsection may be given a brief heading without numbered sections.
Examples are:
1. Introduction
2. Methodology
2.1
2.1.1
2.1.2
3. Results and discussions
4. Conclusions
References
8. Tables and figures
8.1 Captions
- Title of manuscript and captions of figures and tables can be written in English.
- Only the first letter of the captions for tables and figures should be capital except for name, proper noun, abbreviation, and special symbol. All captions should be finished with a period.
Examples are:
Each table and figure must be cited in text like ¡®Table 1¡¯ and ¡®Fig. 1¡¯.
Figure 1. Delivery system and sampling locations.
Table 3. Collection efficiency.
8.2 Placement
All figures and tables should be placed at the end of the manuscript file and must be cited specifically in the text and in numerical order.
All figures printed in the journal are placed on the typeset page as an electronic image file. The highest quality of reproduction is possible if authors supply electronic files of any images that were originally created in an electronic form. Authors should strive to submit their figures at the size they will appear, with the understanding that the technical editors may resize the figures for layout purposes.
9. Reference
In general, short citations in the text should consist of the author¡¯s name and the year of publication and can be displaced as the followings:
Single author
Hopke (2003)
Double authors
PArk and Kim (1985)
More than three authors
Whitby et al. (1976)
When the short citations in the text are placed inside parentheses, author names and year are divided by comma. When the short citations in the text include more than two references, they have to be listed chronologically and are divided by a semicolon.
Example is:
Choi, M., Cho, J., and Kim, H.W. (1999).
Measurement of silica aggregate particle growth using light scattering and thermophoretic sampling, Journal of Nanoparticle Research, 1, 169-183.
For a book, reference must consist of last name and initials of author(s), year of publication of book in parentheses, title of book, publisher¡¯s name, and total pages.
Example is:
Friedlander, S.K. (2000). Smoke, dust, and haze, 2nd
Ed., New York, Oxford University Press, pp. 33-50.
For a chapter in a book, reference must consist of last name and initials of author(s), year of publication of book in parentheses, title of the chapter, title of book, name of editor(s), publisher¡¯s name, and inclusive pages for the chapter.
Example is:
Fleming, J.W., and O'Connor, P.B. (1981). High rate lightguide fabrication technique. In advances in ceramics£ºPhysics of fiber optics, American Ceramic Society, Columbus, OH, Vol. 2, pp. 21-26.
10. Peer Review Process
Review article is made by 2 reviewers. Final decision is made by the editorial board member.
11. Proofreading
Proofreading should be conducted by author(s) and the significant changes of contents during proofreading are not accepted.
12. Evaluation and publication charges
Evaluation charges are $30 per article, but in case of the invited paper the charges can be exempted.
Page charges for accepted papers are $10 per printed page. The publication provides 50 free-of-charge reprints and the actual expense is only charged for additional reprints. However, the additional charges are $30 per excess page, when the printed pages of published papers are more than eight. In addition, authors have to pay the actual expense for special printing such as color printing.
13. Author Rights
All copyright for articles published in journal is owned and transferred by/to KAPAR.
14. Publication
The journal is quarterly published on March 31st, June 30th, September 30th, and December 31st.
15. Delegation
Regarding the matters not specified in this document, editorial board of the journal will make a decision.
