Abstracts
This study proposes an advanced approach to improving the vehicle HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system for effective in-cabin air quality management. While conventional systems primarily rely on filters to remove particulate matter, this research introduces a novel configuration by integrating a charger composed of a discharge electrode. The added charging mechanism enhances the particle collection efficiency of the filter. Furthermore, the study investigates the relationship between filtration efficiency and pressure drop, employing the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) as a key performance indicator. With the application of charging, the E10-grade filter achieved a particle collection efficiency of up to 92%, and the CADR increased by up to 44% compared to the baseline. Based on this analysis, the proposed system achieves high particle removal performance while maintaining low pressure drop, and provides recommendations for optimal filter grades suitable for automotive HVAC applications.
