Abstracts
The concentrations of PM10 and its water-soluble ions were measured in Suwon area from January 1997 to
December 2000. The temporal variation of these data were intensively analyzed and the relationship between PM10
and water-soluble ions were also statistically interpreted. The PM10 concentration showed an increasing trend
during the study period. The general trends of nss-SO4
2- and NH4
+ decreased, but NO3
-, nss-K+ and nss-Ca2
showed some increasing trends, respectively. The concentrations of PM10, NO3
-, NH4
+, nss-Ca2, and nss-K+ were
higher in winter and spring than in other seasons. However, the maximum concentration of nss-SO4
2- occurred in
summer season. It was also found that SO4
2, NO3
-, and NH4
+ concentrations were dominant and the sum of those
ions occupied 34.8 and 75.0% of PM10 mass concentration and total dissolved ions concentration, respectively.
Nss-SO4
2-concentration showed strong correlation with NH4
+ and NO3
-.
